TJKC is located in Machida, one of Tokyo's western suburbs. This growing municipality of 300,000 has a bustling core city (also called Machida) not far away with some fantastic restaurants and coffee shops, as well as electronic stores and an international museum of graphic arts. Our campus is located on the east bank of the Sakai River in Minami (South) Machida, a rapidly growing area that combines remnant farmlands with upscale shopping and suburban living. Within walking distance of the TJKC campus are: Minami Machida train station; Grandberry Mall, a new Western-style outdoor shopping mall with a post office, a 10-theater Cineplex, ATM machines, bakeries, coffee shops, a convenience store, beauty salons, a supermarket, rock climbing facility, and a wide variety of American and European outlet shops and restaurants; Carrefour, a French discount supermarket; a department store complex with a Warner Brothers Cinema complex and Sports Authority; and Tsuruma Park, a favorite site for viewing cherry blossoms or skateboarding.

Whether you want to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city or quietly contemplate cultural or natural sights, Japan has an excellent network of trains and buses that makes traveling easy. Shibuya, a center of Tokyo's youth culture, and the modern city of Yokohama are short 40-minute train rides from Minami Machida Station. The old capital of Kamakura, the mountain resort of Hakone, the Tanzawa mountain range and Tokyo Disneyland are easy day trips from Minami Machida Station. For overnight trips, Mount Fuji, Nikko and the hot springs of Izu are favorite destinations.
